Challenge hardware and systems reasoning

Develop computer engineering material that tests how language models reason about architecture, embedded systems, IoT, networking, distributed systems, hardware security and operating systems. Document model failures so the reasoning can be improved.

Technical responsibilities

• Design advanced problems involving RISC-V and ARM architectures, FPGA development, memory management and hardware and software co-design.
• Write rigorous reference solutions with assembly, HDL examples and architectural diagrams where appropriate.
• Audit generated C, C++, Verilog and VHDL, logic designs and operating system kernels for accuracy, efficiency and conformity with relevant standards.
• Identify problems such as race conditions, memory leaks and faulty timing constraints, then provide structured corrections to the reasoning.

Academic and technical background

A master's degree in progress or completed, or a PhD, is required in computer engineering, hardware focused computer science or a closely related subject. Strong foundations in architecture, embedded systems, digital logic or operating systems are important.

You must communicate hardware concepts and low level software clearly in writing. Precision with bit operations, clock cycle timing and technical documentation is essential; previous AI experience is not required.

Experience in annotation, data quality or evaluation is preferred. Familiarity with engineering software concepts, including SolidWorks, MATLAB or ANSYS, is also useful when reviewing generated code or workflows.

Contract and selection

The hourly contract pays $35 to $60 per hour for ten to 40 hours weekly. Work is remote and flexible, with the possibility of an extension.
