Assess mathematical reasoning

Help define reliable AI performance on real mathematical research. Your work will combine critical review with problem specifications, reference solutions and proofs, plus benchmarks that test whether models are improving. The role is fully remote and intended for practicing specialists based in the United States.

Work in your specialty

• Review research tasks and AI output for incomplete proofs, steps lacking justification and generalizations that do not hold.
• Judge mathematical arguments by whether they would withstand peer review, even when the presentation seems convincing.
• Write precise questions with rigorous solutions and proofs that reflect research practice.
• Create demanding research problems and evaluation sets within your specialization.
• Work with researchers and experts in related fields to translate expert intuition into explicit criteria that can be taught.

Qualifications

A doctorate in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, operations research or a closely related subject is required. You should be a faculty member, principal investigator, staff or senior scientist, or hold a comparable senior research position at a university, national laboratory or research organization.

• Deep specialization in at least one area, such as analysis or PDE, algebra or number theory, geometry or topology, probability or statistics, applied mathematics or optimization.
• A strong body of publications reviewed by research peers; competitive fellowships and awards are additional strengths.
• Practical experience using large language models in your work, with sound judgment about valid arguments and plausible errors.
• Clear, precise writing and the ability to organize detailed feedback effectively.
