Improve scientific reasoning

Help establish what sound AI reasoning looks like in biology and the life sciences. The work combines expert assessment, rigorous problem and solution writing, and benchmarks that reveal whether model performance is improving. This fully remote role is for practicing specialists based in the United States.

Your research contribution

• Review tasks and model answers for vague explanations of mechanisms, causal claims without support and problems in experimental design.
• Determine whether answers remain convincing under the scrutiny expected in scientific peer review.
• Write carefully defined problems and reference solutions that reflect the way life sciences research is conducted.
• Develop demanding research problems and evaluation collections within your area of expertise.
• Collaborate with researchers and experts in nearby disciplines to make implicit scientific judgment into clear, teachable evaluation criteria.

Background needed

You need a PhD in biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience or a closely related life science. Your current standing should be as faculty, a principal investigator, a staff or senior scientist, or an equivalent senior researcher at a university, academic medical center, national laboratory or research organization.

• Deep expertise in at least one area, for example molecular or cell biology, biochemistry or structural biology, immunology, genetics or genomics, neuroscience, ecology or evolution.
• A substantial record of scientific publications that have passed peer review; competitive awards and fellowships are advantageous.
• Direct experience with large language models in your work and a discerning eye for arguments that sound plausible but are wrong.
• Strong written communication, including precise feedback presented in a clear structure.
