STEM research contribution
Contribute faculty expertise in mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, or engineering to research on large language models. The work brings disciplinary judgment to scientific and technical questions, helping assess what models understand and how clearly they explain the material.
What you will contribute
- Develop prompts grounded in your own scientific or technical specialty.
- Assess the responses produced by language models within your field.
- Research relevant topics with assistance from AI tools.
- Translate advanced research knowledge into clear task instructions and criteria for evaluating answers.
The role provides opportunities to develop skills while participating in AI research across scientific disciplines. It calls for confidence that your subject knowledge can exceed current AI systems on important concepts and explanations.
Faculty and research criteria
Applicants must be US based current or emeritus faculty at assistant, associate, or full professor level in mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, or engineering.
The research record must satisfy all of these thresholds:
- More than five peer reviewed publications.
- At least one publication dated 2025 or 2026.
- An H-index above 20.
- A total citation count exceeding 2,000.
Strong written communication is required, particularly when turning complex research into structured instructions and evaluation guidance.
Time, pay and availability
Work is fully remote and asynchronous, allowing independent work from your chosen location. The expected commitment is approximately 10 to 20 hours per week on a flexible schedule.
Pay may reach $150 per hour, depending on the project. The fellowship operates throughout the year, with opportunities varying by discipline; placement depends on an available project in your area.
