Materials Science Expert

Contribute materials science judgment to AI research

This continuing talent pool connects materials scientists with AI training and evaluation projects. It remains open between assignments because new projects can begin with little notice; registration concerns future matching rather than an advertised vacancy. Your professional judgment helps set the standards used to assess advanced AI systems.

Potential project work

• Develop a materials task from your experience, including the material system, processing history, and required property, with a reference response.
• Examine whether a claimed property follows from the microstructure, characterization supports the conclusion, and the proposed processing window is achievable.
• Identify material proposals that meet a written specification but fail under fatigue, corrosion, thermal cycling, or manufacturing constraints.

Background and fit

A graduate degree in materials science or a related subject, with research or industrial experience, is expected. You should explain decisions clearly in writing, work thoughtfully when a task is ambiguous, and raise questions when instructions need clarification.

Recent personal experience processing and characterizing materials matters more than your training institution. You should be able to explain the decisions you made during that work.

Rates and project matching

Earlier materials science projects have paid $60 to $120 per hour. Each assignment sets compensation according to its scope and the depth of expertise needed.

Registration involves submitting your resume, confirming your working location, and completing a short interview conducted by AI; the process takes about 20 minutes in total. Your background is checked before you are added to the materials science pool.

When a project needs your experience, suitable participants receive an invitation to a separate listing with its rate, hours, and client details. Selection decisions are made for that assignment, so this standing listing does not issue acceptance or rejection decisions.

Contact may follow within a week or after several months, depending on available work. Completing the domain interview and enrolling in all relevant networks improves matching prospects; a single registration can support eligibility across those networks.
