Physics research evaluation

Help determine whether AI reasoning holds up to the demands of real physics research. Your scientific judgment will guide task reviews, reference answers and benchmarks that measure meaningful progress. This fully remote role is for practicing specialists based in the United States.

Work you will contribute

• Examine tasks and model responses for faulty derivations, approximations without adequate justification, dimensional mistakes and incorrect treatment of limits.
• Assess whether an answer would withstand peer review, even when its presentation appears persuasive.
• Develop precise problem statements and rigorous reference solutions grounded in the practice of research physics.
• Design challenging research problems and evaluation sets in your area of specialization.
• Collaborate with researchers and experts in related disciplines to express implicit scientific judgment as criteria that can be explained and taught.

Research qualifications

A PhD in physics, astrophysics, applied physics or a closely related discipline is required. You should hold a faculty appointment, be a principal investigator or staff or senior scientist, or occupy a comparable senior research role at a university, national laboratory or research organization.

• Depth in at least one specialty, such as condensed matter; high energy or particle physics; astrophysics or cosmology; atomic, molecular, optical or quantum physics; or statistical or computational physics.
• A strong publication record following scientific peer review, with competitive fellowships or awards considered an advantage.
• Direct experience working with large language models and the judgment to distinguish sound reasoning from plausible mistakes.
• Clear writing and the ability to provide carefully organized, precise feedback.
