Role details

  • Job type: Full-time or Part-time.
  • Location: Remote.
  • Join our customer’s team as a Maori Bilingual Expert and make an impact by bridging cultures through language.
  • In this dynamic remote role, you will leverage your bilingual proficiency to transcribe, analyze, and interpret Maori and English content, ensuring nuance and cultural richness are captured.

Day-to-day

  • Transcribe video content in Maori and English with precision, outlining clear timestamps.
  • Describe and interpret the emotional tone and intent of the speaker within multimedia content.
  • Analyze and document grammar, tone, and conceptual meanings in both languages.
  • Work with the team to deliver high-quality, insightful linguistic analysis and feedback.
  • Handle complex language tasks, supporting language preservation and cross-cultural understanding.
  • Make sure all transcriptions and analyses maintain strict confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
  • Contribute at least 15 hours per week to project work and collaborative meetings.

You bring

  • Fluent proficiency in both Maori and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated background in transcription, translation, or linguistic analysis.
  • Deep understanding of Maori language, culture, and contextual concepts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to accurately capture meaning and tone.
  • Able to analyze language at a complex and conceptual level.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities. self-motivated in a remote setting.
  • Committed to working a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Bonus

  • Background in linguistics, translation studies, or a related field.
  • Experience working on multimedia or language research projects.
  • Active involvement in Te Reo Maori revitalization or community initiatives.
